Intellectual Property Law in Bangladesh
Bangladesh's intellectual property framework has been significantly modernised in recent years. The Copyright Act, 2023 replaced the Copyright Act, 2000, bringing Bangladesh's copyright regime closer to international standards. The Patents and Designs Act, 2023 replaces the colonial-era 1911 statute. Trade mark protection continues under the Trade Marks Act, 2009. Bangladesh is a member of WIPO and a signatory to the Paris Convention and Berne Convention, with extended TRIPS compliance timelines as a Least Developed Country (LDC).
