The Court System
Bangladesh's court system is headed by the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, comprising the Appellate Division (final appellate court) and the High Court Division (exercising original civil jurisdiction, appellate jurisdiction, and constitutional writ jurisdiction). Below the Supreme Court, District and Sessions Judges' Courts handle first instance civil and criminal matters. Specialised courts include: the Commercial Court (established 2016 for commercial disputes above BDT 1 crore); Labour Courts; Family Courts; and the Artha Rin Adalat (Money Loan Courts under the Artha Rin Adalat Ain 2003).

The Commercial Court (established under the Commercial Court Act 2016) provides a dedicated forum for high-value commercial disputes with an emphasis on case management and efficient resolution. The Court's procedural rules impose strict timelines, limit adjournments, and require active participation from represented parties.
