Court Litigation and Legal Representation in Bangladesh
Bangladesh's court system comprises the Supreme Court of Bangladesh (High Court Division and Appellate Division) at the apex, with the High Court Division exercising original, appellate, and constitutional jurisdiction. Below the Supreme Court are the District Courts (District and Sessions Judges), sub-district courts (Upazila), and a range of specialist tribunals covering labour, commercial, family, and administrative matters.
Commercial Disputes
Most commercial disputes are filed in the Civil Courts under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908. The Artha Rin Adalat (Money Loan Court) handles bank loan recovery matters. Large-value commercial disputes may be filed directly in the High Court Division in its original jurisdiction.
Injunctions and Urgent Relief
Interlocutory injunctions, attachment before judgment, and receiver appointments are available in the Civil Courts and High Court Division. Urgent matters can be listed before a single bench judge on short notice.
